As part of a major rebranding program, Kimball Union Academy, one of Northern New England’s premier independent schools, engaged Nomad to direct photography, write and design its viewbook. This new piece in turn has set the new “look” KUA will use throughout all print and electronic media. Check it out…
How Dartmouth Works
Dartmouth College asked us to generate some ideas to showcase its sustainability initiative in four large display cases that adorn the lobby below the president’s office. Working with sustainability officer Rosi Kerr, we brainstormed ideas for elements of her work that could be presented in a compelling manner. The large format posters we created are fun to look at and informative and we can’t wait to design the next chapter of How Dartmouth Works.
Wall Street Journal Reviews Nomad Press’ Latest Title
Our sister company Nomad Press recently published legendary sailing icon Gary Jobson’s autobiography.
It Is a Merry Life(Wall Street Journal)
Gary Jobson had the good fortune to hit his stride just when the relatively arcane sport he’d built his life around reached a fascinating peak, …Read More
A great review for our friend Gary. Sailing books from the land locked nation of Vermont? Actually Nomad Press is known for producing some epic sailing titles including two books on the Volvo Ocean Race, one of the most grueling events in the world.
Nomad Always Gets the Shot
“Hey, Rob, mind if I borrow this ladder?”
We always enjoy working with one of our favorite photographers, Rob Bossi. Here Rob leans on the rafters high over lunch time at Kimball Union Academy. Rob just dropped off a drive with some great images, so, now, we’re busy at work crafting a new viewbook for KUA. Stay tuned, we may post some spreads soon.

Old Dog, New Tricks
NBC recently did a great piece on one of our favorite clients, the Orton Brothers of the Vermont Country Store and Vermont Common Foods. The piece even featured one of the most popular designs we’ve done for them . . . the “how-can-you-resist” Orton Brothers Cookie Button. Check out the video.
Nomad launches new site for Mascoma Savings Bank,
one of Northern New England’s leading banks. Check it out……..
WARNING:
May be Habit Forming. Go ahead try them. We dare you to see if you can eat just one Vermont Cookie Button and Stop—Not two or three or two hundred, but ONE—Easier said than done.
These bite size tasty treats developed by the Orton Brothers of The famed Vermont Country Store will quickly make you a convert, quite possibly even an addict. When The Orton Brothers developed these unique cookies they came to Nomad to develop packaging equally as compelling as the cookies themselves. Ok, so maybe the packaging doesn’t taste as good…..
Sunapee Really Does Have the Best Snow
Yeah, some work days are better than others. Like when Mark gets to sample some of Mount Sunapee’s handiwork at a photo shoot with our favorite ski photographer, Rob Bossi. While it may look like summer outside, it’s midwinter here at Nomad as we are laying out the 2010-2011 season materials for the Mount Sunapee.
Larceny is the sincerest form of flattery
I guess that’s how we knew that the new signs we created to explain to Dartmouth students what was happening during the renovations of the primary dining facility on campus, Thayer Hall, were a hit. These life-size signs we’re stolen off the front doors of Thayer within 24 hours, just before the construction team was able to put the plexiglass covers on them . . . of course we had replacements bolted on there faster than you can say “chicken sandwich.” Similar versions have been stopping traffic all over campus.
The Belly Dancing Nomad!
We’re not just a group of talented marketers and designers. We can shake it with the best of them! Abby from our design team is an avid Belly Dancer and can be seen performing throughout New England and beyond. Have you ever Belly Danced? Not easy.
Muddy Dog
Rather than eat her bones right away, Atiya, A part-time Nomad employee prefers to bury them! Here’s what she looks like after a spring-time bone-burying.
Dive in
After a couple of years helping people try to imagine what an amazing new independent living community in Lebanon, named the Woodlands, would look like. We finally got to see the building come to life. I was over there on Monday taking some shots with the Upper Valley’s hardest working photog, John Sherman, and it is truly a spectacular place. From talking to residents is not easy to make a significant change at that time in your life, so it has been really gratifying to listen to them tell us stories about what it’s like to move and feel like we are listening to first-year college students describing the excitement of meeting all their new peers during freshmen week.
Kahan Conquers Nantucket
After 34 miles of aerobic insanity, Nomad’s Alex Kahan, competing as a team of one, emerged as the top individual finisher in the 2010 Big Brothers Big Sisters Iron Teams Relay. While most people would view being forced through a road run, sea paddle, beach run, ocean swim, run, bike, run as some form of CIA inspired torture, apparently Kahan is ready to do it again. Imagine putting that kind of energy to work for your company!?!
